The Application and Benefits of a Disabled Badge

Disabled badges are designed for those people who have a handicap or a physical disability. Badges are distributed to those individuals who qualify and are the ages of two years and older. The specific reason for disabled badges are for parking purposes, making conditions much easier for those who are physically impaired and may have difficulty walking long distances. Disabled badges are given to even those in a family who don't drive, allowing them to have easier access to stores and bussiness when being transported by another person.

Anyone with a physical impairment or handicap can apply online at "DirectGov" and fill out an application to receive a disabled badge. There are a few requirements such as; being over the age of two, having a doctor verified condition, and providing picture identicifcation (if old enough to drive) and a social security number. Each disabled badge is good for three consecutive years and can be purchased, renewed or replaced for a small price of ten dollars.

The disabled badge allows individuals to park their vehicles in designated parking areas specifically marked for the disabled allowing them much closer access to the front doors of buildings or handicap ramps. Many times people have handicaps that aren't visible, a temporary illness or possibly recovering from a surgery and just need some assistance by carrying the disabled badge for only a short time. Fortunately this type of service is available to anyone who needs it, and for those that appear they are abusing it, they may actually have an illness that's not visible to others.

Anyone has the opportunity to apply for a disabled badge; it has no relevance to one's age, or income and won't affect anything in regards to filing yearly income taxes. A disabled badge may be very helpful for even simple issues such as breathing problems, bad knees, someone using crutches, or even having children that are ill and need to travel with extra equipment. Simply display the disabled badge on the rear view window in the vehicle so it's clearly visible to anyone who looks into the vehicle. These particular types of disabled badges are available throughout most countries alike and are faily easy to qualify for. Once the application process is complete, it's only a matter of a few days until the disabled badge arrives in the mail.

Of course each country or state may have different requirements to be met in order to receive a disabled badge, although generally all the same type of paperwork in necessary. Some states may require a letter from the individiual's family doctor clearly explaining what the particular medical condition is and why it would be beneficial for the individiual to receive a disabled badge for their vehicle. Even if a specific person has qualified for a disabled badge, they may use it in another person's vehicle that happens to be transporting them to a particualr destination. Each disabled badge is not specifically designated to any certain vehicle, just to a specific person who has the disability whether temporary or permanent.
