A poppy badge is a badge which looks like a poppy flower. This badge is generally meant for after-war activities. Like for example, people wear and give each other poppy badges and flowers respectively. Poppy is used for such a purpose because; it is a flower which has been found to bloom in many of the rough and rash war areas especially in Flanders. Poppy is a beautiful red flower. The colour of this flower has unique brilliance in it, which is symbolic to the results of war: blood and death.
The tradition:
The tradition of this red poppy badge started in the year 1915 after the war of Ypres. Not only this, in fact one of the moments of history named after this flower called Poppy day. This day is also known as Remembrance Day. To continue this tradition, even today the Remembrance Day is celebrated on 11th November and people wear such a badge, to pay tribute to all the war affected soldiers. This tradition was started by three people in history and approved by King George V. This tradition is still followed in various parts of the world like Canada, Barbados, Bermuda, Australia, India, Kenya, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, And parts of Ireland etc. The bloodshed that occurred in the battles of World War I, made the whole world shiver. Organizations like Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) and many other peace related communities celebrate this day in remembrance as well as to spread the lesson as to the results of a war. Apart from red poppies there are white poppy flowers as well, which are worn and gifted on such occasions wishing for peace.

A poppy flower can be directly used as a badge, but a poppy badge is also available in market. You can easily found them near the Remembrance Day dates. But if you need to buy them on some other occasions you may need to do some search. Best option can be online. There are hundreds of sites available which sell anything and everything related to poppy. You can find just any kind of product related to poppy in such stores. Other than that, you can find them in the charity shops. These days even the supermarkets keep them throughout the year, but it is not possible to find them there for sure.
There are a few supermarkets that do keep them, but others might not. Poppies are also available in several varieties, such as a lapel poppy, a silk poppy, a poppy sticker etc. Some people have started taking it as a sign of luck, so carrying and wearing a poppy badge has also increased the poppy business.
